Hong Kong International Young Readers Festival 2012

The Hong Kong International Literary Festival (HKILF) has extended its reach to children with the introduction of the exclusive Hong Kong International Young Readers Festival (YRF12). The inaugural festival will take place from 5th to 18th March, 2012.

Dedicated to children up to the age of 14, the YRF is bringing overseas authors of children's books here to share with Hong Kong readers the joys of reading. The impressive line-up includes Adeline Foo, Christopher Cheng, Dianne Wolfer, Eliza Teoh, Eoin Colfer, Mem Fox, Peter Brown, Princess Laurentien van Oranje, Sally Kindberg, and Hong Kong's very own Sarah Brennan.

Key Objective of YRF12:

  • to motivate the youngsters of Hong Kong to develop a habit of reading and to increase their English fluency through literature
  • to better equip teachers and parents with tools to support students and children alike to read
  • to attract even more schools to join the programme though a new subsidy scheme
  • to fully engage young book lovers through a series of workshops, Meet-The-Author sessions, talks and symposium

As the official bookseller, The Commercial Press is giving the YRF12 its full support; we are delighted to announce Sally Kindberg and Eliza Teoh will be hosting workshops at our Tsimshatsui branch and Sarah Brennan will be storytelling from her latest book Pinyin Panda at our home base at Olympian City. So stay tuned for further details. In the meantime, check out www.youngreadersfestival.org.hk for more information.

All titles featured by the authors at the Festival will be available at our shops shortly. The ordered form can be downloaded now! Ordered by School, please click here. Ordered by Individual, please click here.
