We celebrated Christmas with our members on 22 Dec 2012 at Atrium Gallery, Shatin Book Plaza. It was the first time we had a storytelling session at a shopping mall! It felt really different and so festive! There was so much going on and so many passers-by. But it was good because people could get to know about Blooming Club.

Ms Jenn Horgos from the Hong Kong Talespinners was our storyteller for the second reading of Zoe's Christmas List by Chloe and Mick Inkpen.

From the start, there was lots of excitement as the children were really in a holiday mood and engaging Ms Horgos in conversation.

They keenly took part in the imaginative journey of Zoe and Beans to the North Pole to stick Zoe’s Christmas Wish List for Father Christmas to see!

They shared their own Christmas wishes, came out to help Ms Horgos pack Zoe’s things into her day pack, and located North Pole on the globe to make sure they knew the way.

They reveled in the many happenings in Zoe and Beans’ journey including finding a lost baby polar bear. They braved the snow and blizzard together with the characters. They also learnt that when the little bear was in danger, saving him was the only thing that Zoe had in mind – her own Christmas Wish List was no longer important. How wonderful it was to learn that Zoe got more than she wished for from Father Christmas in the end!

Every boy and girl in the audience were pleasantly surprised to get a set of Zoe and Beans activity sheets, which included a Choccy Bear Biscuits recipe, colouring sheet and picture dominoes, as well as a copy of the Highlight/High Five Magazine for Christmas. They also had great fun playing the Zoe and Beans picture dominoes with Ms Horgos. We hope that they will enjoy doing the activities and reading the magazines at home!

A big thank-you to Ms Horgos for telling the story and for celebrating Christmas with us!
