Review
A story time featuring bestselling author Julia Donaldson's stories is always a big draw at Blooming Club. So it was little wonder that our corner at Olympian City was fully packed on 1 June 2013.
Most of the children in the audience were 3 to 5 year old, but they enjoyed Tiddler, a story about fish's fishy adventures all the same, in spite of some unfamiliar words in the story.
They responded excitedly to Tiddler's "tall tales" which he tells everyday when he is late for school. What a surprise it was for them when Tiddler finally has a true story of his own to tell when caught by a net one day! Not only that, he manages to find his way home as he tracks down his story told by other fishes! An even bigger surprise came in the end - one of the fishes tells the story to a writer who has written it down for them! The picture of Julia Donaldson in her diving suit jotting down the story was such a delight to everyone.
Following the highly imaginative tale, there was a change in mood as Mrs. Lindy Fok told her favourite story, The Smartest Giant In Town. Everyone was moved by this heartwarming story of a giant who takes off his smart clothes one by one, and gives them to the animals who are in need. Mrs. Fok drew our members' attention to the details in the story when she told his lovely story about sharing and friendship with her trademark zest. As she wrapped up the session, she once again encouraged parents to read to their children. The more shared reading there is, the better the readers their children will become.
Thank you, Lindy for telling the stories and for the reading tips.
