Review
Singaporean storyteller Roger Jenkins entertained a crowd of kids and parents at Kiddyland with a programme of highly interactive stories. The Bear Hunt had everyone - including Mums and Dads - chorusing the dialogue and miming crawling under, climbing over or wading through a whole series of obstacles.
A magic trick (a flower appeared instantly from the empty flower pot in Roger's hand!) drew gasps during his telling of the Chinese folktale about the Emperor who gives every boy a seed in order to test their honesty. (The seeds are all boiled, so they won't germinate and yet, every boy except one returns to the palace carrying a magnificent flower!)
The young children were particularly excited by a delightful story about tickling a bear's ears (!) told with the help of a set of six nesting Matroyshka dolls and a book which opened up to create a 3D dolls house on two storeys!
The session flew by and all too soon it was time for roger to say, 'The End'. We hope to have him back in Hong Kong in the not too distant future!
