Our second storytelling of The Santa Trap on 18 Dec attracted even more children than the first one. It was really good to see more little boys in the audience as often they are outnumbered by girls at our events. Just like at the reading on 11 Dec, the children were hooked right away when they heard that Bradley Bartleby was born bad and got worse as he grew older that even Santa didn't even want to look at his long wish list for Christmas presents!

His scheme to trap Santa as revenge for only giving him a pair of socks involved dynamite, tigers, a guillotine, a trap-door and a cage was so over-the-top that it was really comical. All the children were pleased to know that Santa was really the clever one and it was Bradley who got trapped in the end. For the first time ever, Bradley received more than just one pair of socks, he got antiseptic and bandages for the wounds he inflicted on himself. The unexpected ending brought smiles to everyone present.

Lise Fraissinet, our storyteller, then shared with audience how the French spent Christmas. They do not just decorate the Christmas tree with beautiful ornaments, they have figurines of the nativity scene as decorations, they have advent calendars, they have Christmas dinner with families eating delicious food like oysters, foie gras, Christmas log and loads of chocolates. What's more, they use not just stockings for Santa to put the Christmas presents in, but also leave their shoes under the Christmas tree for the same purpose!

Everyone was happy to learn how to say "Joyeux Noel" (that's Merry Christmas in French) and sing Christmas carols together.

So that was the last Blooming Club event for this year and we were very happy to have celebrated Christmas early with our members.

Joyeux Noel! Bonne Annee!

See you next year!
