Review
Situated on the third floor of Causeway Bay Book Centre, our new Blooming Club children's books corner for younger readers was officially opened on Saturday, 10th October. The opening event drew flocks of kids and parents. Around 30 of our Blooming Club members had a great time meeting Sarah Brennan and listening to her story, "The Tale of Oswald Ox".
The story is about an old Ox that is in his twilight year idling in the farm everyday while the other animals are working hard, but is framed for stealing the farmers' winter stores.
Apart from being an author, Sarah is an experienced storyteller; her lively delivery of the story did indeed tickle the imagination of the audience. Everyone was transported to the little hamlet of Yu Xi to enjoy the farm life there. They also learnt a lot from Oswald who is hardworking, patient and honest and is able to restore calm in times of trouble – typical of people who are born in the Year of the Ox.
During the Q&A, children enthusiastically answered questions and much to their delight, each returned home with one yellow plush Spot toy.
Sarah will be releasing "The Tale of Temujin", the fourth book in her Chinese calendar tales series in November for the Year of the Tiger. She has promised to come to Blooming Club again to celebrate Chinese New Year with our members. So don't miss it.
