How to Really Read to Your Child - Sharing Session for Parents (06/04/2013)

Those who have acquired good language skills enjoy their reading, whilst others may hate reading because they haven’t acquired those skills and you can learn how to help them with that at home!
Studies have shown that those who read better, write better. Not only that, they have a larger vocabulary, better language ability, better critical thinking skills and generally do better in school.
So, what can we do to develop our child's love for reading?
Join Mrs Judy Luk and Ms Christa Tam for a fascinating and informative session on how to raise children to be readers. You will hear that some simple strategies may work wonders in turning your reading time into a focused and dynamic reading experience.
About the Speakers:
Judy Luk is originally from the US. She has lived in Hong Kong for more than 20 years and is the former headmistress of the Chung Chi Nursery School at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is passionate about reading because it presents a child with a storehouse of creative thinking, expression, language usage and inspiration, in addition to knowledge and information.
Christa Tam is the project manager of Blooming Club. She fell in love with children's literature while she was raising her daughter in Japan. She volunteered in kindergartens and primary schools to introduce English children's books to the local children. Since her return to Hong Kong, she has been promoting reading in English for pleasure amongst children.
