Storytelling Workshop - Caught or Taught? (08/10/2016)

Welcome to the Storytelling Workshop – Caught or Taught? for teachers, librarians and parents.

It’s a great gift to help children develop into life-long readers. With the use of words and images as a key of success, stories are a powerful tool to develop children’s listening skills, broaden their imagination, and encouraging them to express themselves in different ways.

In 2016, the Blooming Club proudly present our keynote speaker, Neil Griffiths, an experts of storytelling and a writer of children books, at our Storytelling Workshop – ‘Caught or Taught?’ on 8th October 2016 (Sat).

This highly thought-provoking and practical course will explore the many ways that adults, both in school and at home, can play a crucial role in helping develop their children into life-long readers.

Suitable for all practitioners from Foundation to Key Stage Two, this half-day session will address:

• the latest statistics on reading trends and the requirements of the New Curriculum
• the powerful ways adults can ‘model’ the pleasure of reading
• the development of a reading culture
• ways of auditing and choosing suitable reading material
• approaches to celebrating and promoting books both in school and at home
• inspirational ideas for sharing books
• the importance of storytime
• ‘Read aloud’ techniques.

This would be a great chance to discover the power and gift of storytelling, building familiarity and enhancing fluency in both teller and listener.

We are looking forward to meeting you at the Storytelling Wortshop 2016!
