It was fantastic for Blooming Club to have some 100 children and parents to help us celebrate our 3rd Anniversary on 6 Oct 2012 at Olympian City branch! We can't believe how time flies!

Thanks to your support, we have had 85 events in the past three years attended by over 5,000 members, We continue to strive to bring you the very best in children's publishing to encourage your children to become booklovers for life.

Lise Fraissinet, author of Petit Paul Global Trotter, was with us on our big day and read Otto, The Book Bear by Kate Cleminson. It is such a delightful story about a bear that lives in a book, and the perfect story on this occasion because the bear is at his happiest when his book is being read! We hope that all your children will remember this and that you, the parents, will make it a habit to read the books your children love to hear over and over again and introduce them to new ones until they too are lovingly dog-eared!

The highlight of the day came when ten children came up to share with us their favourite books. Everyone had done a great job drawing pictures of the characters they enjoyed best and telling us a little about their favourite books. It was a fabulous chance to learn about what appeals to different children.  Each participant received the gift of a beautiful picture book after their sharing. We'd like to thank them very much for being so brave to come up and share. Keep up the good work!

The long-awaited lucky draw followed and to the children's big surprise, every child who was present had their name drawn and each one of them brought home a gift- picture book. In this way we hope we can encourage each child to read more. Thanks to the generosity of all the publishers – Random House, Walker, Sterling, Macmillan, Usborne, Penguin, Orion, Harper Collins and Oxford - for their support as always.

Amid the children's cheering and the singing of Happy Birthday, we blew out the three candles on our giant birthday cake. This was a truly memorable occasion for us to be with you all on our big day! See you again soon.
