For almost two centuries, Clement C.Moore's The Night Before Christmas has been the favourite Christmas poem in many households, especially in the US. This story of a man who sees Santa Claus and his reindeer sail across the sky on Christmas Eve continues to capture every child's imagination to this day.

Mrs. Judy Luk shared with us her favourite poem at our story time on 15 December 2012 as we counted down to Christmas together. She also told us how Christmas was spent back at home in the States when she was a little girl. In addition to the new edition of the poem beautifully illustrated by Eric Puybaret, she showed a much-treasured old edition of The Night Before Christmas (priced at US 69 cents!), which gave us a glimpse of life a long long time ago. We could all tell how much she loved this poem as she recited it!

To encourage our young members to read more, our Christmas present to them was a copy of the Highlights/High Five Magazine. We hope that everyone will enjoy the stories, puzzles, craft and more.... and truly have fun with a purpose.

Thank you, Mrs. Luk, for sharing with us your fond memories!
