No one has ever seen socks displayed in a book shop, let alone so many cute and tiny children's socks nicely decorated all hung up in the children's corner at our Causeway Bay Book Centre!

It was all because our members decorated the corner with their socks before the start of Pauline Young's story time for her own Socks Heaven.

The children did a terrific job. We had so much fun just looking at each sock as everyone's was so unique! Thank you, children, for your participation!

It was a really nice surprise for the author when she arrived to see so many socks hanging in our very crowded corner! The children were more than ready for a journey with Sam, the little boy who had lost two of his favorites socks in Socks Heaven.

They joined in right away as Pauline guided them through the journey. They looked really confident as they said out loud the days of the week that Sam wears a different pair of socks, the colours and the patterns as well as counting the number of socks in his selection.

They then followed Sam to socks heaven as he drifted into a deep deep sleep while missing his socks. The children were amazed to see hundreds of lost socks in socks heaven and were very pleased with the happy ending when Sam found his own lost socks.

The author skillfully captured a child's feelings of lost and found through a simple story which young children can relate to. With the use of alliteration and repetition, the text is very easy for a young reader to follow.

Thank you, Pauline, for taking us on to a journey to socks heaven.

Thank you, parents and children, for joining.

See you next time!
