We just love the festive mood at the last Blooming Club event each year because every boy and girl wears a Santa hat while waiting to hear a Christmas themed story! And this year it's How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

Everyone confirmed to Auntie Christa, Project Manager of Blooming Club and the storyteller of the day, that they liked Christmas a lot, a lot and a lot! We could tell that most of them were curious how come the Grinch, unlike the Who's in Who-ville, didn't like Christmas and how he could steal it?

With great zest, dramatic gestures and expressions, Auntie Christa told how she suspected the reasons why the grumpy Grinch hated Christmas might be because his head was not screwed on just right, his shoes were too tight or simply his heart was two sizes too small! It brought laughter to the audience who looked really keen to hear about the Grinch's wonderful and awful idea to steal Christmas!

Surprise! Auntie Christa even put on a Christmas hat and a red top as she told how that's what the Grinch did when he faked being Saint Nick! The children followed her to Who-ville where the Grinch and his dog, Max (who the Grinch disguised as a reindeer), went door to door to steal everything that has to do with Christmas leaving crumbs too small for the Whos' mouses! The children were apparently appalled by his sheer wickedness when the Grinch lied to little Cindy Lou who caught him in his vicious act!

Auntie Christa drew the children's attention to Dr. Seuss' zany but lovely and detailed illustrations on the screen as she went along and encouraged children's anticipation. Just as the children were worrying that all the stolen goods would be dumped from Mt. Crumpit, there came another surprise! They heard "We Wish You a Merry Christmas"! Everyone in Who-ville was singing, without any presents at all! The Grinch hadn't stopped Christmas from coming! And he realised in the end there's more to it than presents and tinsel! What a relief it was for our audience!

We are quite sure that our boys and girls know better than the Grinch when we saw how they share the joy of participating at our Christmas event while listening to the stories and making the Christmas wreath with their Moms and Dads and the other children.

A big thank-you to everyone for letting Blooming Club be part of your Christmas celebration!

If you have enjoyed How the Grinch Stole Christmas, do try Dr. Seuss' other books! They really make reading so much fun for children.
