It is not often that a birthday party is held at a book shop so it was natural that customers wondered what on earth was going on at our corner at Causeway Bay on 9th Oct 2010! There were party decorations, balloons, a huge birthday cake, a presentation of events held by our club in the past year, a reading by Sarah Brennan and a Lucky Draw. And most importantly, we had you there to help us celebrate. Those who didn't come missed out on a delicious slice of our cake – so next time we celebrate a birthday, don't forget to come!

As always, Sarah Brennan's live reading of A Dirty Story delighted both boys and girls, mums and dads in the audience. Some of you may even have felt that the story was aimed directly at you if you have the habit of not putting away toys, leaving taps running and leaving off lids just like the Grots in the town of Grot? We certainly hope that all you boys and girls are Neats. Everyone was intrigued to know what sort of vile trick the Grots would play on the Neats from Neat in Twinkle Downs to spoil the annual cleanest town contest. Harry Harrison's funny illustrations of the tidiest people versus the grottiest people together with Sarah's amusing rhyming text enthused everyone and the unexpected happy ending brought big smiles to everybody's face. The lucky draw, the celebrations and Sarah's signing that followed brought even bigger smiles . Thank you all for coming and for your support in the past year. We also thank Mrs. Winnie Wong, the CEO of Noah's Ark – Treasure House and an advisor of Blooming Club, for joining us on this happy occasion.
