Created some 70 years ago by husband and wife team Margret and H.A. Rey, the seven original stories about a clever little monkey called Curious George have been loved by generations of readers. From the day George met the man in the yellow hat in Africa and was taken to live in a new land, the many and varied experiences his curiosity put him through have inspired his fans to face life’s challenges as persistently as he did.

At our Curiosity Day on 19 Feb 2011, our audience was delighted to know that despite dialing the fire-station's number to being put into prison, cleverly escaping the prison cell and flying up to the sky with the aid of a bunch of balloons, landing on a lamp post and halting all the traffic, George never ceased to remain curious!

His curiosity continues to get him into trouble but more often than not, the outcome demonstrates a strong sense of values which helps strengthen the readers' belief in themselves as they tackle their own new daily experiences. All the stories are entertaining and educational, young readers can learn about all sorts of new experiences in Curious George Takes a Job, Curious George Rides a Bike, Curious George Gets a Medal, Curious George Flies a Kite, Curious George Learns the Alphabet and Curious George Goes to the Hospital. It is a great opportunity to encourage and motivate children to be curious and explore new directions.

After the reading, the children and parents joined hands to do a retelling of the story and three winners were picked to receive the prizes from the publisher, Houghton Mifflin. The children greatly enjoyed having the Curious George tattoo put on their hands!
