Story Time: Law Ting Pong Secondary School Story Pilots at Blooming Club (25/05/2013)

Children learn a lot from other children. Young children, especially, like to imitate older children.

We are very proud to present to you Story Pilots from Law Ting Pong Secondary School. These teenage storytellers from Years 1 – 2 of Secondary School have set a great example in serving the young children in their community in the past year. They have dedicated their time to sharing their love of stories with the hope that more people enjoy the traditional art form as much as they do. They too, have learned during this programme – just how valuable it can be to share the enjoyment of stories and have fun with their listeners.

According to Mrs. Janet Mann, their teacher who started the Story Pilot programme, these story pilots have bloomed a great deal during the process, becoming more expressive and more confident in speaking in front of an audience. In fact, they have become 'big brothers and sisters' whether they have other siblings or not – and to see how they interact with their listeners is heartwarming. In one school visit they shared stories with a group of Primary 2 children just beginning to get to grips with English, and the care the Pilots took to ensure their listeners understood all the story they heard, including the jokes and the messages, was plain to see.
These students have matured within the scheme, and clearly show the benefits that stories, reading and listening can bring in today's techno-centric world.

Gigi, Eden, Edwina and Jason will introduce you to 'The Perfect Prince', 'Zog', 'Twelve Dancing Princesses' and a 'Bear [who] Snores On' at Blooming Club. Come and join us at their first ever public performance on 25 May 2013 at our TST Book Centre. They are very happy to share their stories with adults too!

Your child might be so inspired that they want to become one too!
