Spot's 30th Birthday Party and Colouring Competition at Blooming Club (18/09/2010)

Eric Hill created Spot in 1980 and he was the first one to come up with the lift the flap idea for children's picture books. Spot quickly became one of the best-loved pre-school characters of all times. Spot is truly international; he is published in 60 languages including Frisian, Breton and Welsh, as well as adapted in sign language!
For many young children, Spot's books are the very first books they own. They enjoy playing hide-and-seek with Spot and love lifting the flaps to see which one the playful pup is hiding behind.
This month it's Spot's 30th birthday and Mid-Autumn Festival is coming up too. Come and celebrate with us at Blooming Club. There will be a reading of Where's Spot? and a Colouring Competition.
Remember to bring your own crayons or coloured pencils. Only 15 seats for children are available. Book now. This activity is suitable for 2-4 years olds.
About the author
Eric Hill (born 1927) was born in London. He left school at 15 working for a shipping company. A year later, he joined an art studio as a messenger and was encouraged to create cartoons in his spare time which paved the way for his career as a cartoonist, art director, graphic designer and illustrator. When his son Christopher was born in 1976, he made up a story about a small puppy to read to him at bedtime, when he was 2 years old. In 1980, Where's Spot? was published and the rest is history.
