HK Biggest Bilingual Children Bookstore @Olympian City Branch Opening Party & Storytelling (22/10/2011)

Established two years ago jointly by The Commercial Press (H.K.) Ltd and Bloomsbury Books Ltd with the objective of helping children discover the pleasure of reading, Blooming Club has grown tremendously thanks to our readers' support.
From 15 October 2011, Blooming Club is going to have a new home base at the Commercial Press Olympian City Branch from where we can better serve our members, schools and parents.
Located at one of the transport hubs in Kowloon, Blooming Club at Olympian City is our new concept store specializing in children's books – both Chinese and English from baby to young adult. Also, the shop will carry a wide variety of educational toys which enhance the learning interest of children. In addition, there are bestsellers and leisure reading books for parents, offering a one-stop shopping destination for all the family.
Join our Opening and 2nd Anniversary Party at 11.30am on Saturday, 22nd October 2011 at this Blooming Club Concept Store at Shop 115, 1/F, Olympian City I. There will be a Calvin Can't Fly storytelling session by Mrs. Jan Mann after the Opening Party. Come to celebrate the wonder of reading with the loveable Calvin.
About the storytelling:
Calvin the starling is unlike his brothers, sisters and cousins, he loves reading. While the others learn to swoop and hover and fly figures of eight, Calvin buries his beak in books! In the library his mind soars, taking him places his wings never could.
Yet, when it comes time to migrate, poor Calvin suddenly realises he can't actually fly! His siblings and cousins carry him into the air. On their way south, the wind blows hard, the trees bend and the air starts to smell ominous. It's a hurricane! Calvin has read about it. But can he save the day?
About the author:
Jennifer Berne loves spending her time alone with her favourite books about science, nature, cave men, dinosaurs and our amazing universe, just like. Calvin She has been a long-time contributor to Nick Jr. Magazine and a writer for both print and TV. Her award-winning book, Manfish: A Story of Jacques Cousteau, is one of Calvin's favourites.
The Storyteller:
Jan Mann, librarian specialising in books for young readers; storyteller; writer, quilter, mother of three and grandmother of six. Jan has a fascination with the way stories link people everywhere – in families, across countries and cultures. She believes sharing stories with everyone, through books or oral storytelling, is vital in our modern, increasingly electronic world.
