We had a really pleasant afternoon on 19 February 2012 at our home base in Olympian City. Gail Clarke, the author of Patrick's Birthday Message was here to tell the story of how Patrick the grey African parrot sent his birthday greeting to his soon to be 100-years-old Great Grandpa who lived thousands of miles away in Australia.

Gail brought along her hand puppets Patrick and his great grandpa, Gilbert to meet the children. Everyone was happy to know that with the help of his friends, the swallows, the whales and the dolphins, Patrick was able to pass the message from Central Africa to The Cape, the Indian Ocean and finally Australia. Through the scorching heat of Africa to terrifying storms, the message travelled by air and by sea, finally reaching its destination with the help from friends. This heartwarming tale of friendship and perseverance told in rhymes captivated our young audience. They responded most enthusiastically to Gail's lively delivery and enjoyed imitating the moves of a parrot as well.

The session ended with Gail giving her autograph to her new-found fans. The children were delighted to find out that there is a parrot quiz and information on parrot at the end of the book.

Thank you, Gail for such a lovely story and thank you, children and parents for coming.
