We had a fabulous time at our 5th anniversary party! Thanks for helping us celebrate!

Jan Mann told Peter Brown's latest My Teacher Is a Monster about a little boy who believes his teacher is a monster; however his view of his monster teacher changes after a chance meeting with her at the park when he sees a different side to her. Jan's expressive delivery brought many a giggle amongst the audience. We were pleased to hear that that nobody in the audience had a teacher who's a monster!

The ten participants in our Favourite Book session did a terrific job telling us all about their favourite books and showing us the pictures they had drawn. It didn't surprise us that several girls loved Frozen. It's obvious that big screen films are having a big impact on the sales of our movie tie-in titles.

Winners of the Lucky Draw came up to the stage to choose a prize from our selection of beautiful picture books all by much-loved authors like: Anthony Browne, Peter Browne, Julia Donaldson, Alex Latimer, Abie Longstaff and Michael Rosen to name just a few. We could tell that lots of you found it difficult to choose because all the books looked so inviting!

As Anthony Browne said in our Author of Month section this month, "Picture books are for everybody at any age, not books to be left behind as we grow older. The best ones leave a tantalising gap between the pictures and the words, a gap that is filled by the reader's imagination, adding so much to the excitement of reading a book." We hope that mums and dads and grandparents - in fact, all adults will play a part in helping children love reading at a young age. We all need to make a special time to sit and read to our children every day, so if we are not, then we have to make a commitment to them and start now. Just ten to fifteen minutes a day and the result will be most rewarding.

After singing Happy Birthday, blowing out the candles and consuming the enormous birthday cake and refreshments there was a big surprise – another Lucky Draw! Three lucky children each got a very cute plush toy of Frog, the character created by Max Velthuijs, who celebrates his 25th anniversary this year! To celebrate Frog's birthday, we are going to have a story time all about Frog soon. Stay tuned!

A big thank you to the following publishers who supported this event: Pan Macmillan Asia, Penguin UK, Penguin US, Random House Children's Publishers UK.
