It was a really special day for Clifford the Big Red Dog! So many of you were there to help him celebrate his 50th birthday! He was so happy to see you at our Tsimshatsui branch on 21st April 2013. A big thank-you to all of you.

Mrs. Judy Luk read three of the original classic stories from The Clifford Collection – Clifford the Big Red Dog, Clifford Takes a Trip and Clifford's Tricks. They were the stories she enjoyed reading with her son when he was small.

Clifford is much loved worldwide with 126 million Clifford books in print in 12 languages, but he is still not very well known here yet. We could tell some in the audience were really excited and surprised to find out that Clifford is indeed very BIG! And they all enjoyed getting to know the Big Red Dog who is ever so fun loving, kind and gentle.

Created 50 years ago by Norman Bridwell, Clifford continues to appeal to children because he shows them how to navigate the world while growing up through his many adventures. The values of friendship, love, acceptance and fair play learned in the stories often remain with them for life.

After the story time, there was a lucky draw followed by the Happy Birthday song for Clifford, then he happily blew out the candle and cut the BIG birthday cake.  Everyone had a splendid time taking pictures with Clifford at the party. Clifford was particularly thrilled to receive the beautifully coloured Clifford pictures from ten very thoughtful members. Thank you once again!

We are sure that the more you get to know Clifford, the more you will love him. Do come to our shops to pick Clifford books we have put in stock for you. You can also learn more about Clifford at http://www.scholastic.com/clifford.
