Blooming Club sponsors Hong Kong Battle of the Books (13/05/2010)

On 13 May 2010, Hong Kong Battle of the Books www.bobinhk.com will be holding its first ever Modified List competition at Hoi Ping Chamber of Commerce Secondary School.

Since Hong Kong Battle of the Books started ten years ago, it has become an important reading competition amongst international schools and achieved its purpose of encouraging reading by students in the upper primary and middle grades.

This year HKBoB has extended its programme to the local EMI schools with the addition of a second stream, the Modified List of ten titles as opposed to the mainstream's twenty. The participating schools have to read from the list chosen by HKBoB's committee from a variety of cultural backgrounds, literary styles and viewpoints by prominent authors in young adult literature.

Since our launch last October, the objectives of Blooming Club is very much in line with that of HKBoB. Blooming Club is very pleased to be sponsoring this programme and to see that HKBoB has successfully branched out into the local schools. We are working closely with HKBob to help more students discover the pleasure of reading for leisure.

We look forward to meeting the students on the day of the battle and wish them all good luck!
